Drama Club Performance

We want to congratulate Southside’s Drama Club for their performance of CSI last Friday evening. They were the perfect embodiment of Southside’s 4 C’s and through hard work and dedication each and every one of them shined!

Barnes and Noble Book Fair

Southside Middle School Reading Department hosted a Barnes and Noble bookfair on Saturday, December 8th from 9:00am -9:00pm. Members of the Southside Drama Club, Cheerleading Team, and Student Government were there to read holiday stories and create crafts with young customers. Southside Chamber Orchestra was present and helped put everyone in the holiday spirit with Christmas music. Final totals are still being finalized but the funds from the community event will help purchase books and resources for our reading program. Thank you to everyone who came and bought books online. We appreciate your support!

Band, Chorus and Orchestra Performances

Congratulations to Southside’s AMAZING band, chorus, and orchestra! Each ensemble put on a fantastic performance. Our Chorus sang Riu, Rui, Chiu/ Spevacek and Nightmare Before Christmas/ Holst/Rossetti/Hugh, to name a few. Our Southside Band rocked the house with Sleigh Ride/Leroy Anderson and Dark Matter/Nathan Daughtrey. Our Orchestra completed our three evening performances with Star of Bethlehem/Robert Longfield and Dragon Dances/Soon Hee Newbold. Congratulations again to all of our performers!

Take a Ride on the Polar Express

Thank you Mrs. Sullivan, Mrs. Levesque, and Co. for an amazing job decorating our front office!

Southside Staff Member of the Month

Congratulations to Ms. Alicia Doucet!

Ms. Doucet was nominated by 2 staff members and chosen by the PSG for this award and will be receiving a $25 Visa Gift card.

“She always goes above and beyond in her lesson planning and activities. She helped to drive the country project the whole team does. Students love her class and the out-of-the-box activities that she does. She never just teaches from the book.”

“Ms. Doucet always goes above and beyond planning for her lessons that engage all students. Her medieval unit was a hit and it was all the kids talked about. They were excited to get to Southside to be a “knight” for example. As a teammate, she is a team player and always positive.”

Storyboards Created by Ms. Nardino's Reading Class

Mrs. Nardino’s 6th grade class are working on creating storyboards while reading Things not Seen. They will create 3 for each part of their novel.

Health Class Posters

One of our 8th grade students made an excellent poster for health class discussing the importance of taking depression seriously. Ask your students in Health class about the Health Triangle.

Holiday Giving

This year's student body community efforts theme is "Fill the Police Cruiser" with toys and non-perishable items. Officer Abruzese will be delivering the items to Toys for Tots and New Horizons.

We are asking for:

8th grade to donate toys for Toys for Tots

7th grade cash donations towards New Horizons

6th grade can collection for New Horizons

* checks can be made to New Horizons

If the police cruisers are filled Mrs. Milligan has promised to put her athletic skills to use and perform cartwheels around the perimeter of the gym.
