Northeastern Team Olympics!

The Northeastern team is participating in the Olympics!  No, we do not have our students skiing down the stairwell or speed skating to the cafe, but we do have our students getting excited about the international event as well as learning.  Each student has been assigned a country who consistently does well in the Winter Olympics.  They have had to learn facts about the country such as the location, the language spoken, the main industry there and have decorated their country's flag.  For the last few weeks, they are earning gold, silver, and bronze "medals" for their country by doing well on tests, completing Science lab tasks effectively and solving team challenges.  As part of the Olympic fun, the team had the opportunity to FaceTime with Molly, the Olympic Operations director for NBC Sports.  She spent a half an hour with us answering questions such as what the weather is like, what her major was in college, her first job (getting coffee for the big bosses!) and how many NBC employees are over there covering the Olympics--2000!  Molly also gave us a tour of the set where they broadcast from and as she was walking back to her office, she bumped into the afternoon anchor --who said hello to us!  Our students were excited to speak with Molly and were exceptionally well behaved and attentive.  Gold medals for all!!
