Welcome to Southside Middle School

"Through the collaborative work of staff, students, parents, and community members, Southside Middle School strives to maintain a positive learning experience for all. We accomplish this by providing an open means of communication, and recognizing the academic and social success of our students."

The Southside faculty embraces the middle school philosophy and concepts. Social Studies and Science are heterogeneously grouped where all academic and maturity levels are mixed together. Math and Language Arts are grouped by ability.  Adolescence is a time for rapid growth, and intellectual and social change justifying the educational approach to provide for a variety of opportunities. Middle school is a vehicle that offers ways for students to explore their interests, take risks, and make mistakes in a safe environment.

Teachers have put together the following supply lists to make your child's year at Southside a successful one.

Your child will receive a Student Planner on the first day of school.  You will find the Student Handbook and other important information in their planner.  Please review it with your child!  Below you will find some of the information provided in the handbook.
